Sue entered the transport industry in 1980 at the age of 17 as a Junior Receptionist with TNT Overnight Express/TNT Taxi Trucks, Brisbane. Trained in all facets of Fleet Control/Operations/Customer Service before being given the opportunity at 19 years of age to manage the Administration of the TNT Division, Kwika Airfreight at Eagle Farm, with a fleet of five vehicles, gaining her first experience in all facets of running a small business.

Sue then entered Sales & Marketing, taking on the position of Secretary/PA to Qld Sales & Qld State Manager for a Multi National Company. After holding the position of Qld Administration Manager for Riteway Express for a number of years, she started her own business ‘Sue’s Secretarial Services” before joining forces with her husband John, as Financial & Marketing Director, to commence John Ryan Freight Services in 1992.

Being inducted into the Qld 400 Businesses in 2009, 2010 and 2011, with the success of John Ryan Freight Services, John & Sue invested in their own equipment and formed their linehaul Company, Jarac Industries Pty Ltd.

Sue became a Director of the Board with Transport Women Australia in 2012 and has

since continued to serve the community with sponsorships and donations to a number of charities close to her heart.

With the sudden passing of husband John in December, 2016, Sue has managed solely to continue to grow the business whilst maintaining current clientele, continuing on the legacy of John Ryan Freight Services.

Growing the Company further, Sue has now joined forces with Wayne Miller to form John Ryan Freight Management commencing 1st November, 2019.
